1)Before buying check the ex-date , record date,pay by date of the share.
2)Pay by date is date on which the dividend will be paid if u hold the stock.
3)People holding the stock on record date will have dividend on pay by date.
4)Ex date and Pay by date will usally be near to each other.
5)If u sell a stock on ex date u will still recieve dividend for that period.
